A new day, a new dawn, a new blog... And a new sequencer to boot.
Well its been a long time coming but the day is here, the day where I change sequencer.
Not that I've ever been tied down to any partiular production meathod or sequencer in the past but todaty something new entered the lab - Reason 6.5!
I had a slight headache when it cam to the first load after authentication as I didn't load it as an administrator, but once that little hurdle was behind me I was left in a littlle awe at what I saw
Having used versions 2.5, 3 and 4 I'm more than at home on the platform but I was a bit suprised with what Proppelerhead had done with it. - To be honest more than my mind could take in so I immediatly reffered to thir official guides.
My initial reason(s) to invest in Reason as my main software sequencer is this I'm tired of having to multitrack in Cubase and a few versions back Proppelerheads introduced audio in to Reason, its as simple as that. I'm already familiar with Reason through my studies so there is little or no learning curve.
I have to still give cubase its dos for having the best midi sequencer available but when it comes downn to PRICE and what I personally get pound for pound Reason wins hands down...
Saying that even as a Reason old timer v6.5 is a bit over the top on first view.
And I immediatley noticed the mixer, something I have never researched before today for some reason ...What can I say? I like my mixers to be minimal but I'm not going to turn down an SSL!
Its going to take me a week to read the manuals (cant be too thorough can you?) but then atleast I will know exactly when everything is and how to use it right ^_^
I was expecting a bigger mixer, an mpc style stampler a bigger synth and some effects but this is taking the piss the've created a monster! ^_^
